At SVBC we understand the many challenges of today’s culture. We’ve designed our Sunday School/Bible Study classes to deal with many of these issues. Regardless of your age or family situation, you can find a class that will point you to the one true answer to all of life’s problems - Jesus Christ. We hope you’ll decide to join us each Sunday morning at 9:45! Our teachers have designed their classes to provide you with the spiritual nourishment and training to live a victorious Christian life.

Classes for Adults:

Basic Life Principles
The basic theme of this class will center on how you can gain the greatest benefit from your problems. Some of the many topics discussed will include: “How to Transform Criticism,” “Tracing Problems to Root Causes,” and “Good Communication in Marriage.”  Teacher: Ron Combs

Deaf Class
The Deaf class uses the quarterly series “Explore the Bible.” The passion of the class and the SVBC Deaf Ministry is to reach the Deaf in the community with the Gospel of Christ, to see them saved, baptized and growing in their walk with the Lord. The Deaf Sunday school class plays a vital role in this process. The class is open to both deaf and hearing people who can communicate in sign language. Teacher: Vicki Ferris

Family Focus
The Family Focus class looks at issues pertaining to marriage and family. The goal of the class is to provide practical teaching, encouragement and fellowship that will lead to spiritual growth and happy homes, realizing that good families living the Christian life are the foundation of the church. The class also has several family-oriented social activities a year. Teacher: Bobby Sine

Genesis
Whether you are new believer or you simply never studied the Word of God as you would have liked, the Genesis Class is for you! The class looks at some of the Scripture’s basic doctrines including salvation, the church, and soul winning using a variety of methods including discussion and lecture. Teacher: Charlie Cain

Homebuilders
Geared toward young to middle-aged married couples, Homebuilders materials apply Biblical principles to the husband/wife relationship. The focus of the class is oneness in marriage, achieved by encouraging spouses to evaluate themselves in the light of God’s Word and to live selflessly. Teacher: Gene Jones

In Depth
Concerned about the direction our world is heading? The In Depth class examines current cultural issues and how they affect Christian life, the family and the church. The goal of the class is to stimulate interest and genuine Christian concern for our culture thereby creating a mindset committed to bringing about change and ultimately revival. Teacher: Bob Quinn

Ladies Class
Made up of ladies of all ages, the Ladies Class uses Explore the Bible materials to study both Old and New Testament books. The class provides a warm atmosphere where all the ladies are encouraged to participate.  The goal of the class is to build each other up in the Lord and learn to be what God intends us to be. Teacher: Barbara Racey

Sanctuary Class
An interactive class comprised of many senior adults, the Sanctuary Class includes a time of singing, prayer, discussion, and lecture. The class strives to engage each individual in an atmosphere of fellowship and encouragement which will lead to spiritual growth and the development of each person’s God-given gifts. Teacher: Mr. Bill Funk

The Gathering
This class is designed for young adults from college age through late 20’s. The class seeks to put a Biblical perspective on a time of life when young adults face many difficult decisions with respect to career and relationships.  Teacher: Mr. Jason Combs

The Youth Ministry and Children’s Ministry workers at Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church are committed to reaching the next generation for Christ. SVBC has classes for kids of all ages during the Sunday School hour.
